Moldovan company creates innovative solutions in biodegradable packaging
An enterprise from the Republic of Moldova has managed to create an innovative solution - eco-friendly biodegradable packaging made from cotton and textile waste, using an innovative technology to optimize water consumption. These packages offer an ecological alternative to traditional plastic and were officially recognized at Moldova Eco Energetica Gala 2024, where R.Com.Production company won a $10,000 grant through GCIP Moldova program.
The packaging developed by R.Com.Production can be used for a wide range of products - from fruits and vegetables to industrial applications. The innovation does not stop at the eco-friendly material. Their production benefits from an innovative system for collecting condensation and rainwater, significantly reducing the consumption of natural resources and the environmental impact during production.
Dmitry Rovner, the founder of the company, talks about how he came to this solution.
“My associates brought me bags of waste from Tiratex, which were not being used anywhere. I combined this raw material with an existing problem and managed to produce prototypes of eco-friendly packaging. Each kilogram of plastic replaced contributes to reducting six kilograms of CO2 emissions,” explained the entrepreneur.
Although the technology and product have a clear positive impact on the environment, attracting investors in Moldova remains an obstacle for a start-up.
“My main goal now is to attract investors who are interested in this project, which can be expanded and franchised in other countries. GCIP Moldova was an essential platform to support my idea, providing me with the necessary tools to refine it and present it to the world,” Rovner shares.
The GCIP support was crucial for the success of this project, and Moldova Eco Energetica Gala 2024 was an opportunity to showcase innovations contributing to a sustainable future.
“It is an important moment for us, but also for the entire industry. Being part of this event helps us make our ideas heard and collaborate with other innovators who share the same goals,” he said.
The Global Cleantech Innovation Programme in Moldova (GCIP Moldova) is a program of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, implemented in the Republic of Moldova by the National Center for Sustainable Energy. The program is dedicated to promoting and supporting innovative technologies in the field of renewable energy, contributing to entrepreneurial development and environmental protection.
