Moldovan Energy Regulatory Agency: there are increasing signals that fuel prices are set to moderate

The National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) observes increasing signals suggesting a moderation of fuel prices with a potential change in their trend. This tendency is shaping up after a year marked by constant increases in petrol and diesel prices.

According to ANRE, Brent crude oil futures contracts fell during the latest stock session to approximately $78.2 per barrel, indicating a clear downward market trend. This development was influenced by several regional and global factors, including the announcement by U.S. President Donald Trump regarding an ambitious plan to increase domestic oil production and the request made to the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), particularly Saudi Arabia, to reduce crude oil prices, according to Reuters.

Although, since the beginning of the year, fuel prices have increased by over 1.5-1.6 lei per liter, the latest statistics published by GlobalPetrolPrices show that Moldova stays among the European countries with the lowest fuel prices.

ANRE data reveals that lower prices than in Moldova can be found  only in states with significant own production capacities and which play an important role in the regional logistics chain of Russian oil.

On the other hand, Moldova, although it does not benefit from the resources and industrial infrastructure of regional leaders, manages to rank 3rd out of 42 European countries for the cheapest diesel price and 5th out of 42 for the cheapest petrol price.

For the next three days, ANRE announced a maximum price for COR 95 petrol of 24.79 lei per  one liter,  up by 0.03 lei. At the same time, drivers will shell out 21. 71 lei per liter for diesel, with the price being by 0.01 lei higher.
