Over 400 million lei invested in repair of national roads and bridges in 2025

In 2025, the Republic of Moldova made significant progress in modernizing national road infrastructure through major repair works on roads and bridges, funded by the Road Fund. The National Road Administration (AND) ensured the implementation of projects included in Annex no. 2 of the Program regarding the distribution of Road Fund resources for national public roads, approved by Government Decision.

The program targets 17 road infrastructure and engineering construction objectives, aiming to enhance road safety, road durability, and traffic flow. The total value of financial resources allocated for these works is approximately 477.7 million lei, and so far, works amounting to about 405.7 million lei have been executed and received.

“During 2025, works were completed on seven major objectives, of which six are to be received upon completion. These include the major repair of six road sections, with a total length of about 25.8 kilometers, the rehabilitation of nine bridges, and a stabilization work for slopes affected by landslides,” explains AND.

Among the most important completed projects is the rehabilitation of the road section M1 Leușeni–Chișinău–Dubăsari, including the bridge over Bîc River and the railway overpass, with a total work value exceeding 181 million lei. Additionally, repair works were executed at the road junction on the M3 Chișinău–Comrat–Giurgiulești road, on sections of the R26 Bender–Căușeni–Cimișlia road, as well as reconstruction works for the bridge on the G104.1 road and repairs on the G108 Florești–Anenii Noi road, road authorities said.

Also, in 2025, the repair of the railway overpass on the national road R6 Chișinău–Orhei–Bălți was completed, with the project to be fully completed following the completion of works on the bridge related to the same route.

“In parallel, six infrastructure objectives are under execution, with a planned completion date for 2026. These involve the repair of five road sections, with a total length of about 30.8 kilometers, as well as the major repair of one bridge. Current projects include the creation of a roundabout on the R6 road, the major repair of the bridge over the Răut River, works on sections of the R26, G39, G109, and G113 roads,” the source states.

Additionally, this year contracts have been signed for other four road infrastructure projects, with works expected to be completed in 2026. They include the repair of passages and bridges on national roads R6, R37, and G54, as well as works for slope stabilization and sidewalk construction on the G65 road.

The authorities emphasize that completed projects and those under implementation contribute directly to the sustainable development of road infrastructure, improving connectivity between regions, and creating safer and more comfortable conditions for all traffic participants. The National Road Administration assures that it will continue to modernize the national road network, supporting citizen mobility, economic activity, and regional development.

The Road Fund is the main financial mechanism intended for the maintenance, rehabilitation, and modernization of national and local road infrastructure in the Republic of Moldova. In 2025, the Road Fund continues to be managed by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development and is used to support periodic and major repair works, modernization of national and local roads, as well as the development of strategic transport corridors.

This year, the Road Fund supports projects under execution on over 230 km of national roads, with external investments valued at over 230 million euros. Projects include city bypasses, modernization of main arteries, and the construction of new sections, all contributing to increased safety, comfort for traffic participants, and stimulating economic development.

The National Road Administration manages a total of 5,993 km of national roads in 2025, including express roads, republican, and regional roads.
