Poland ranks fourth among economic partners of Moldova in EU; constant growth in trade exchanges
Poland in 2024 ranked fourth among the main economic partners of Moldova in the European Union. In recent years, trade exchanges between the two countries have constantly grown, reaching 509 million dollars last year, which is by 13 per cent more as compared to 2023 and up by 70 per cent against 2018, with reference to data by the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitization (MDED).
“Poland stays one of the most important commercial partners of Moldova and the growth in recent years shows us that we are on the right track. We are pleased with these results and are motivated to achieve even better outcomes in the coming years,” said Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economic Development and Digitization Doina Nistor.
Among the most important products exported to Poland, there are:
• Fruit or nut juices: 50.4 million dollars (+345.7 per cent compared to 2023)
• Wires and cables: 21.1 million dollars
• Apricots, cherries, peaches: 9.5 million dollars (+25.9 per cent compared to 2023)
• Fresh or dried grapes: 8.8 million dollars (+13.5 per cent compared to 2023)
• Wines: 8.5 million dollars
Other exported products include sunflower seeds, chairs, men's and boys’ suits, pipes, as well as packaging bags.
Moldova imports from Poland mainly consumer goods, as well as technical equipment. The most common include cheeses and curd, pork meat, chocolate, refrigerators and freezers, washing machines, agricultural machinery for harvesting and threshing, as well as medicines.
According to data put out by MDED, there are 88 enterprises with Polish capital in Moldova, with investments in share capital amounting to 249.3 million lei. Poland ranks 13th among the country’s main investors in terms of the value of the capital invested.
