Ministry of Finance announces halt to acceptance of funding applications for compensation under First Home program
The Ministry of Finance announced today that it will stop accepting for financing the applications for the granting of compensations under First Home program starting from April 1, 2026, due to the exhaustion of the allocation limits provided for in the state budget.
Applications that have been registered and validated but not yet accepted for financing will remain on the waiting list and may be financed from future allocations.
“We have summed up the results for the first quarter. This year’s budget was already exhausted in the first quarter. There was very high demand for the First Home PLUS Program; at this point, applications are no longer being processed for financing, only the guarantee component continues as usual. In the meantime, we are revising this program in order to see in what form we will update it, until we have the possibility to supplement the program with additional funds,” Minister of Finance Andrian Gavriliță said before today’s cabinet meeting.
At the same time, loans under the First Home Program will continue to be granted.
The Ministry of Finance also emphasized that First Home Program, in the component related to guaranteeing mortgage loans for the purchase of real estate, will continue to operate normally.
