Energy Minister announces estimated repair costs for Isaccea–Vulcănești Line
Energy Minister Dorin Junghietu announced today that repair works on Isaccea–Vulcănești Line, damaged by Russian bombardments on Ukraine, could cost between 500 thousand and 2 million lei, according to initial estimates.
Junghietu mentioned that the repair works on the line have been completed, carried out by the company Ukrenergo, which continues to monitor the situation. He stressed that data on the final cost could be presented in the coming weeks.
“The works on the Isaccea–Vulcănești line have been completed. Our colleagues from Ukrenergo are practically monitoring the situation daily and how the line behaves, because there were significant mechanical defects. We are expecting in the next few weeks an evaluation of the cost of the works. For the moment, we do not have preliminary figures – between five hundred thousand and two million lei, but this is a rough estimate. When the bill, the invoice, arrives, we will make the figures public. It is a rough estimate based on the materials and equipment that were used. This figure should not be taken as final; it may vary, either downwards or upwards,” said Junghietu.
The Isaccea–Vulcănești overhead power line was disconnected on the evening of Monday, March 23, following attacks on the energy infrastructure in southern Ukraine. It was fully repaired and put back into operation on the evening of Saturday, March 28, restoring interconnection capacity and rehabilitating the security of electricity supply.
