Moldova makes progress in food safety, in context of European integration

The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAIA) hosts a mission of experts from the European Commission's Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety (DG SANTE), on a visit to Chisinau to assess the progress made under Chapter 12 – Food Safety, Veterinary and Phytosanitary, part of the EU-Moldova bilateral screening process.

“Throughout the day, the experts analyze the readiness of national institutions for the screening exercise scheduled for October 2025 and provide the necessary support in the process of aligning with the European Union acquis. DG SANTE representatives have appreciated the efforts made so far and emphasized the European Commission’s commitment to support Moldova on its accession way. So far, 90 per cent of the questionnaires related to Chapter 12 have been completed, and the ministry's team has finished all sections within its competence”, explains MAIA.

On the next period, authorities will continue preparing technical presentations, organizing simulation sessions and strengthening teams for each subchapter.

“The common objective is a rigorous and well-documented representation at the bilateral screening meeting”, the source added.
