The Government of the Republic of Moldova
gov.md

Government has approved the establishment of the Preliminary Research Commission for declaring the construction works on the national road R7 “R14 – Drochia – Costești – border with Romania,” on the bypass section of the city of Drochia, as a public utility of national interest. The decision represents an essential stage in the project preparation process, necessary for assessing and declaring the public utility of the investment in accordance with the legal provisions.

The national road R7 has strategic importance for the Republic of Moldova, being part of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T). It ensures the connection between the northern part of the country and Romania through Costești–Stânca border crossing point, contributing to the development of mobility and facilitating the transport of passengers and goods.

The construction of the bypass road will allow transit traffic to be redirected outside the city of Drochia, reducing traffic congestion, increasing road safety, and improving the quality of life of residents.

The project is aligned with the objectives of the Mobility Strategy 2030, which provides for the development of high-capacity road infrastructure and the construction of bypass roads to streamline traffic, increase road safety, and strengthen the connectivity of the Republic of Moldova with the European transport network.
