
Irish Ambassador completed mandate in Moldova
Chisinau, July 31. /MOLDPRES/- Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu had a farewell meeting with Paul McGarry, Ambassador of Ireland to Moldova with residence in Bucharest, on the end of his mandate in our country, the MAEIE press service has reported.
The Moldovan official thanked the ambassador for the significant contribution to the development of friendly relations between the Republic of Moldova and Ireland.
"We discussed the European path of the Republic of Moldova and reiterated our gratitude for Ireland's support in obtaining the status of a candidate country for EU accession. I assured the Ambassador we are determined to continue working so that accession negotiations are launched by the end of this year. We are relying on Ireland's support.
We also discussed the importance of starting negotiations for visa facilitation. I also emphasized the essential role of Irish investors in the Republic of Moldova, including by attracting low-cost airlines from Ireland", said Popescu.
