
Japan - reliable partner, good friend of Moldova - speaker says
Chisinau, 3 August /MOLDPRES/- Speaker Igor Grosu had a meeting today with Ambassador of Japan to Moldova Yoshihiro Katayama, the parliament's communication and public relations department has reported.
The diplomat congratulated the speaker on election to this important position.
He thanked the Ambassador for the interest that Japan has towards our citizens, through the constant support offered in various fields, especially in agriculture through the 2KR project. Last year, the Japanese government supported Moldova in combating the COVID-19 pandemic.
During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the role of the new Parliament in adopting clear laws to prevent and combat corruption, fair justice and economic development. They also discussed the importance of reorganizing the legal framework so that to have a fair, simple and attractive business environment at regional level to speed up local and foreign investment.
"We discussed the intensification of interparliamentary relations, in particular through friendship groups in the legislatures of the two states and the fact that a transparent and attractive investment framework is an important condition for expanding the presence of Japanese business in Moldova," he said.
At the end, the speaker congratulated Japan for the impeccable organization of the Tokyo Olympic Games held in such a complicated period and where the representatives of the Republic of Moldova have an honorable evolution: "I voiced hope that on the last hundred meters, Moldova could get medals. We hold our fists for the 7 remaining Moldovan athletes in competition: Anastasia Nichita (wrestling), Daniela Cociu and Maria Olărașu (kayak-canoe), Serghei Tarnovschi (kayak-canoe), Andrian Mardare (throwing the spear), Serghei Marghiev (throwing the hammer) and Lilia Fisikovici (marathon). ”
