
Moldovan PM on Independence Day says citizens should be more united, more consolidated to bring Moldova to EU
Chisinau, 27 August /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu, Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu and Prime Minister Dorin Recean laid flowers at the Grieving Mother monument and the monument to Stephen the Great from the Moldova capital on the Republic of Moldova’s Independence Day.
On the occasion of those 32 years of Independence, the officials congratulated the people of Moldova and referred to the importance of the joint effort in the setting up of a prosperous and free country. ‘’Only our citizens must decide the fate of the country and the fate of our children. We want to live in peace; therefore, it is important that we preserve the independence every day,’’ President Maia Sandu said.
For his part, Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu stressed that, after 32 years of independence, he saw Moldova safer and stronger.
Prime Minister Dorin Recean said that the effort to become independent continued and the spirit of community and the courage of each citizen were materialized in the progress of Moldova. ‘’We, as nation, should be more consolidated and more united, in order to make together come true our dream: to bring Moldova into the European Union.’’
The officials participated in the ceremony on the inauguration of the Independence Day National Holiday on the Great National Assembly Square (PMAN). The event brought together the members of the diplomatic corps, the signatories to the Declaration of Independence of the Republic of Moldova, as well as other well-known personalities.
In her message addressed to the citizens, President Maia Sandu spoke about the contribution of each man to the development of a prosperous country: ‘’We celebrate our country and our people, as Moldova is seen in their eyes best of all. Moldova means children who win at Olympiads, physicians, sportspeople, engineers, farmers, policemen, teachers, firemen and those who return home to start businesses. Each man is needed, in order to make the country grow. Now, we have the chance and duty to bring Moldova into the European Union, where the peace and independence of our country will be protected.’’
The schedule of celebration of the Independence Day will continue with artistic programmes and brass band concerts, which will be able to be watched live on the Facebook page of the government and other public institution.
During 12:00-16:00, the prime minister, along with other cabinet members will have a meeting with people within the programme, Speaking with Citizens. The event will be held in the yard behind the government building.
