Moldovan president has bilateral meeting on last day at UN General Assembly
Chisinau, 23 September /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu has had more bilateral meetings on the last day of her presence at the 77th General Assembly in New York.
According to the presidential press service, the head of state discussed with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen the economic difficulties triggered by the war in Ukraine and the energy crisis which hits the entire continent. Maia Sandu stressed that Moldova counted on the support of the European partners, especially on this complicated period, marked by the energy crisis and considerable increase in the consumer prices.
At a meeting with President of Finland Sauli Ninist, Maia Sandu discussed the cooperation in the regional security field, the consequences of the war in Ukraine for the region and the measures needed for the efficient management of the humanitarian crisis triggered by it. The two heads of state also referred to the ambitious reforms Moldova had committed to carry out for an accelerated integration into the European Union.
During a meeting with Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau, emphasis was put on the process of reforms in Moldova and on the support needed to combat the security threats and diminish the consequences of the war. The head of state highlighted the difficult economic situation in Moldova, boosted by the energy crisis and the efforts made to support the citizens during the cold season. Also, the two leaders touched upon possibilities of cooperation in diverse sectors of common interest.
