Monument in memory of victims of communist regime's deportations inaugurated in Sangerei
Chisinau, June 14. /MOLDPRES/- In the context of the 82nd anniversary of the first wave of Soviet deportations from Bessarabia and Northern Bucovina, a monument was inaugurated in Sangerei in memory of the victims of the deportations of the totalitarian communist occupation regime. Attending the event was Speaker Igor Grosu, the parliament's communication and public relations department has reported.
"Those who do not know their history risk repeating it. We are here to remember this sad page of our nation's history. All the deportees were united by beautiful, simple, human things, such as faith or family values. We must honor them, preserve their memory and pass it on to our descendants", said Grosu.
He pointed out that unfortunately some people have not learned from the lessons of history, referring to Russia's war in Ukraine.
Grosu went to a cable factory, recently opened in the locality. He appreciated the Italian investments made, thanks to which dozens of people have a job at home, in the Republic of Moldova.
