Part of capital's ring road, Dubăsari-Chisinau-Leușeni road to be modernized, repaired

Chisinau, Nov. 8 /MOLDPRES/- Two national road sectors will be rehabilitated and modernized. Government has approved the initiation of negotiations on loan agreement between Moldova and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) on implementation of Moldova road rehabilitation project, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

M2 road, Chisinau city belt, sector 2 will be rehabilitated and modernized by expanding it to 4 traffic lanes, with an estimated length of 7 km. Also, an estimated 85 km of the M1 road, the border with Romania - Leușeni - Chisinau - Dubăsari - the border with Ukraine will be rehabilitated.

The document provides for contracting a loan of 150 million euros. The amount represents 50% of the co-financing of the Moldova road rehabilitation project, the other part of the amount being allocated by the European Investment Bank.

These sections are of national and strategic importance both for streamlining traffic and improving the connectivity of the Republic of Moldova with Ukraine and the European Union.
