President Maia Sandu today paid a working visit to central Anenii Noi district, where she had meetings with local citizens and entrepreneurs.

The visit began at the Bulboaca meat plant Mezellini, which employs about 250 residents from Bulboaca, neighboring villages and the Transnistrian region. The company has received subsidies worth around 6 million lei in recent years, aiding in the modernization of the enterprise. President Maia Sandu emphasized the importance of investments in business development, which enhance the well-being of local communities by providing jobs and have a significant impact on the national economy.

In Mereni, the head of state learned about the Happy Bakers bakery’s story, which, with 65 employees, has managed to position itself among the top 500 largest taxpayers to the national budget. Their example proves how any small enterprise can boost the prosperity of local communities and, collectively, the country's well-being.

Also in Mereni, through the European Village I programme, the construction of the water and sewerage supply system started, whose expansion continues thanks to an additional investment of 10 million lei through European Village II.

At a meeting with citizens from Cobusca Veche, the president discussed needs of the settlement and spoke about projects implemented in the district. Through the European Village programme, a recreational area was built in the heart of the locality, enjoyed by over 2,200 residents. In the second edition of the programme, a water pipeline of about 13 km is being constructed. More households will be connected to a drinking water source.

In Anenii Noi district, through the first stage of the "European Village alone, 26 projects worth 81 million lei were carried out. For instance, water pipelines spanning 19 km were constructed in Roșcani and Bulboaca and investments were made in street lighting in Roscani, Calfa, Calfa Noua, Harbovat and Speia.

At the same time, in recent years, several roads in the district were repaired on a overall distance of 40 km, including the bypass road of Troita Noua village, the Sangera - Anenii Noi - Bulboaca road. Presently, work carried out to modernize  the Floresti - Anenii Noi road.

The medical system in Anenii Noi benefited from investments of 26 million lei, with which the infectious diseases and pediatrics departments were renovated, so that the people benefit from quality services.

As much as154 million lei has been allocated for the second stage of the European Village programme. Nineteen new projects are under implementation, in order to improve citizens' living conditions, by increasing access to potable water, renovating schools and kindergartens, and modernizing local infrastructure.
