Prime Minister wished success to national Olympic team participating in Olympic Games in Paris
Chisinau, July 15 /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Dorin Recean attended today the presentation of the Olympic team that will represent the Republic of Moldova at the Summer Olympic Games in Paris. The team is composed of 26 athletes who will compete in 10 sports events, the government's communication department has reported.
The Prime Minister congratulated the athletes and coaches, at the same time thanking the parents of the athletes for having managed to educate them such an attitude towards sport and a discipline that has brought them performances. "You are extraordinary people, because you dedicate so much time and effort not to phones, but to sport and you are an inspiration for so many people, especially for the younger generation," he said.
He touched upon the private companies that are supporting the development of sport in our country in an increasing number.
Recean also expressed confidence that Moldovan athletes will come back with medals from Paris Olympics. Government has earlier approved the amount of prizes for the performances at the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Athletes who will win the gold medal will receive 3 million lei, while those who will rank second and third will receive 2.6 and 2 million lei respectively. Coaches will also be rewarded for their results, the coaches' prize being equal to the athlete's prize.
The 33rd Summer Olympics will be held in Paris from July 26 to August 11. A total of 10,500 athletes will compete in 32 events.
