
Another independent candidate might enter parliamentary race
The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) received today a request to register an initiative group in support of an independent candidate for the parliamentary elections on 28 September.
According to the CEC, the request was submitted by Oleg Bolotnicov, who intends to run as an independent candidate for a seat in the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova.
Under legal provisions, to be registered in the electoral race, an independent candidate must present subscription lists with at least 2,000 and at most 2,500 signatures from eligible voters. In the case of female candidates, the minimum threshold is reduced to 1,000 signatures.
The period for submitting documents for registering candidates in the parliamentary race ends on 19 August.
