Deputy Prime Minister to visit United States of America

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popșoi will pay a working visit to the United States of America on December 1–9.

According to the MAE, Popșoi will have meetings with representatives of the U.S. Congress, the White House, the National Security Council, and the State Department. Discussions will focus on deepening the strategic dialogue between the Republic of Moldova and the United States of America; socio-economic developments in the Republic of Moldova and bilateral support; attracting American investments and expanding economic cooperation, and strengthening collaboration in the fields of security, energy, and sustainable development.

Popșoi will participate in the public event "Moldova’s Euro-Atlantic Path: Regional Security, Energy Opportunities, and Democratic Resilience," organized by the Hudson Institute, and will have meetings with opinion leaders and representatives of analytical centers in Washington. Additionally, he will give interviews for Fox News, CNN, Newsmax, Foreign Affairs and Washington Post.

Moreover, on December 6, the Deputy Prime Minister will meet with the Moldovan community representatives in Chicago and visit two companies managed by citizens of the Republic of Moldova.

On December 7–8, Mihai Popșoi will be in Raleigh, North Carolina, where he will have meetings with Governor Josh Stein, Secretary of State Elaine Marshall, and will discuss with Moldovan citizens residing in the region. The Republic of Moldova and North Carolina enjoy a strong partnership and exemplary cooperation that has lasted for over 25 years.

Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Moldova and the United States of America were established on February 18, 1992.

Currently, 353 enterprises with American capital operate in the Republic of Moldova. In terms of the amount of invested capital, the USA ranks 7th among the main investors in the Republic of Moldova.

Since 1992, the United States has provided over 2.6 billion dollars in financial assistance to the Republic of Moldova.
