Foreign Affairs Ministry says no casualties reported among Moldovan citizens in Israel, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Turkey

The Foreign Affairs Ministry of Moldova announces that, according to information provided by its diplomatic missions, no casualties or injured persons have been reported among Moldovan citizens in Israel, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Turkey following the recently reported security incidents.

The authorities have verified the situation together with local partners, and the diplomatic missions of Moldova continue to constantly monitor regional developments.

Following the security incident in Qatar on February 28, which targeted military facilities, including the Al-Udeid air base, the Qatari authorities confirmed that the situation was under control. The country’s airspace remains closed and the population is urged to follow official recommendations and avoid non-essential travel.

Local authorities are monitoring the situation and may announce additional security measures. The diplomatic mission of Moldova continues to verify any potential impact on citizens in the area.

The security situation in the region remains unstable and may evolve rapidly, with the risk of regional tensions and travel restrictions. Citizens are advised to avoid non-essential travel to affected areas, to constantly check the status of their flights, and to follow the instructions of local authorities.

The Moldovan Foreign Affairs Ministry has reiterated its call for calm, vigilance, and reliance on official information sources, noting that the Crisis Cell continues to closely monitor security developments in the region, in coordination with the diplomatic missions of Moldova.

Israel on February 28, 2026 launched, a “preventive” attack against Iran, announced Israel Katz, the Minister of Defense in Jerusalem. The official said that the aim of the attack was “to eliminate threats.” The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the attacks as a violation of the UN Charter and called on all states, particularly Islamic countries, to condemn the American aggression. A few hours after the first explosions in Tehran, Iranian attacks were reported in Dubai, Bahrain, Abu Dhabi, Qatar, and Kuwait, countries where US military forces are stationed.

Tehran today confirmed the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, killed during the military operation carried out by Israel and the United States. The announcement was made by Iranian state television, after the information had been communicated by US President Donald Trump on Saturday.
