
Foreign minister in Tirana: Regional cooperation essential for European integration of Southeast European countries
Foreign Affairs Minister Mihai Popșoi participated on 16 June in a meeting of Foreign Ministers within the South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECP), held in Tirana, Albania. During the event, the official emphasized the importance of regional cooperation in the European path of countries in the region.
"The process of European integration means not only institutional reforms but also investments in infrastructure, digital development, strengthening the rule of law, fighting corruption, and improving citizens' living conditions," Popșoi said.
The minister welcomed the European Union's Growth Plan for the Republic of Moldova, adopted in 2025, which provides for funding of 1.9 billion euros to support economic development and bring the country closer to European standards.
Popșoi also addressed the impact of Russian aggression against Ukraine, highlighting the risks posed by this conflict to the stability of the entire region, including the Republic of Moldova.
Popșoi approached the impact of Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine, mentioning the direct consequences on regional stability, as well as on the Republic of Moldova.
In conclusion, Mihai Popșoi thanked Albania for exercising the Chairmanship-in-Office of SEECP and expressed Moldova's support for Bulgaria, which will take over this role.
SEECP is a regional platform for dialogue and cooperation among Southeast European countries, aiming to support European integration and regional stability.
