Former Prime Minister Dorin Recean to have new position
President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu has appointed Dorin Recean as a special envoy for development and resilience through a decree signed today.
In this role, the former prime minister is tasked with contributing to the promotion of interinstitutional and multisectoral efforts aimed at strengthening the state's capacity to prevent and combat hybrid threats to national security.
The mandate also includes mobilizing the necessary support for strengthening the institutional, economic, and social resilience of the country, priorities set by the President.
“The role of a special envoy will strengthen the activities of the presidential institution by involving specialists with in-depth expertise in strategic areas for the country, in order to achieve the priorities set by the President,” states the release from the presidential institution.
Dorin Recean served as Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova from February 2023 to November 2025 and has extensive experience in security and public governance, including as Minister of Internal Affairs, presidential security advisor, and secretary of the Supreme Security Council.
