VIDEO // Parliament convenes for inaugural meeting of spring session

On 3 February, Parliament convened for the inaugural meeting of the spring session. Speakers of the Baltic States, who are visiting Chișinău delivered speeches.

President of the Riigikogu of the Republic of Estonia Lauri Hussar, Speaker of the Saeima of the Republic of Latvia Daiga Mieriņa and Speaker of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania Juozas Olekas are paying a visit to the Republic of Moldova on 2–4 February at the invitation of Speaker of Moldova Igor Grosu.

After taking part in the solemn meeting of Parliament, the three officials have scheduled meetings with leaders of the parliamentary factions.

The official visit's agenda also includes meetings with President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu, Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu, Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov and Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Valeriu Chiveri.

At the same time, the speakers of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania will pay a visit to Călărași together with the Speaker of the Republic of Moldova. The officials will meet representatives of local public authorities, business community and citizens. They will also visit Călărași Business Incubator, a project supported by the European Union.

The official visit of the speakers of the Baltic States is part of efforts to strengthen the parliamentary dialogue between the Republic of Moldova and the Baltic States, as well as to reaffirm support for our country’s European path.
