Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv remains closed until 16 April

Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv (State of Israel) will remain closed at least until 16 April, in accordance with the decision of the Israeli authorities, taken in the context of the security situation in the region, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) announced.

According to the MFA, in the context of the upcoming Easter holidays and the traditional pilgrimage for bringing the Holy Fire, travel to Israel is directly affected by flight restrictions, and organizing trips during this period involves significant risks and a high degree of uncertainty. At the same time, the authorities warn that the restrictions could be extended or modified without prior notice.

In this regard, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends that citizens postpone their planned trips until after April 16 and avoid participating in pilgrimages during this period. Citizens are also urged to constantly follow the official information provided by the competent authorities.

The MFA emphasizes that the situation remains volatile and may evolve rapidly. Citizens are urged to seek information from official sources, including the web pages of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in the State of Israel.

The decision of the Israeli authorities comes against the backdrop of a continued tense security situation in the region. Israel is continuing its military operations in the Gaza Strip, and exchanges of fire and rocket attacks by Palestinian armed groups are generating increased risks for the safety of the population and infrastructure. At the same time, tensions persist on the northern border, in the Lebanon area, where sporadic incidents have been reported.

In this context, the Israeli authorities have introduced enhanced security measures, including restrictions on air traffic, in order to prevent potential risks and protect the civilian population.
