Moldova's designated PM consults entrepreneurs on governing programme
Designated Prime Minister Vasile Tofan today met over 70 entrepreneurs, as part of consultations for drafting the governing programme. The discussions focused on measures needed to stimulate investments and develop the business environment.
According to Vasile Tofan, the participants in the consultations are entrepreneurs who invest in Moldova, create jobs and contribute to the development of the economy.
The designated PM said that confidence in the future was essential for business development and that the role of the state was to create a friendly environment for investments.
“The currency of entrepreneurs is optimism. Without confidence in the future, there are no investments, no expansion and no new jobs,” Tofan said.
He emphasized that the authorities must ensure clear, simple and predictable rules, and reduce bureaucracy and administrative pressure on the business environment.
At the end of the meeting, Vasile Tofan expressed wish to rebuild investors’ confidence in the economy of Moldova, so that the country becomes a place where it is worthwhile to invest, to develop a business and to plan for the long term.
As part of the process of drafting the governing programme and forming the future cabinet, Vasile Tofan held discussions with all 16 acting ministers. Subsequently, the designated prime minister participated in consultations with representatives of the business community, trade unions, employers’ associations, local public administration, civil society, and representatives from agriculture and livestock sectors.
Vasile Tofan today presented his entire government team, with whom he will go to parliament on July 21, in order to request a vote of confidence from the MPs. The team includes both new figures and members of the previous government, who will remain in office.
