The designated candidate for the position of prime minister, Vasile Tofan, held a discussion with small entrepreneurs in the context of drafting the future government program. The official stressed the need to develop clear and predictable rules for the business environment so that entrepreneurs invest and grow at home, in the Republic of Moldova.
Vasile Tofan said that behind every business there are people who had the courage to start, who work hard and who, many times, move forward despite all difficulties, and that the state must not put obstacles in their way but make their lives easier.
“Small entrepreneurs. Until now we have been on the same side of the table – we shared the same problems and looked for solutions together. From now on, I also have the responsibility to listen to them in time, to understand where things get stuck and to help solve them. Behind every business there are people who had the courage to start, who work hard and who, many times, move forward despite all difficulties. People who want to succeed here, at home. The state must not put obstacles in their way but make their lives easier,” said the designated prime minister.
Participants in the dialogue discussed the fiscal measures needed for economic development. According to the official, some of these measures are difficult but inevitable at this moment, while others need to be rethought.
“I want to rebuild entrepreneurs’ trust and optimism so that they have the courage to invest, grow and create here. I thank the AIM members for the honest discussion, for their concrete proposals and for their admirable determination to build a stronger Moldova – business by business,” concluded Vasile Tofan.
President Maia Sandu appointed Vasile Tofan on Saturday, July 11, as candidate for the position of prime minister of the Republic of Moldova. According to the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova, the designated candidate must, within 15 days, request a vote of confidence from Parliament for the government’s program of activity and for its composition.
As part of the process of drafting the government program and forming the future Cabinet, Vasile Tofan held discussions with all 16 acting ministers. Each minister was asked to present an analysis of the three to five most important priorities for the next 12 months, the main problems and risks in the area they manage, the obligations related to European integration, the necessary resources, as well as possibilities for reducing administrative costs.
After the discussions with the ministers, Vasile Tofan announced that decisions will follow regarding the government team and the continuation of consultations with political parties and representatives of several sectors, in order to finalize the government program.
At the same time, Vasile Tofan held yesterday his first consultations with representatives of the business community. As a result of these talks, the designated prime minister noted that the role of the Government is to unblock processes, to provide clear and predictable rules and to create conditions in which entrepreneurs can grow.
