Moldovan Central Electoral Commission debunks new fake news on mail-in ballots

The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) has denounced a new fake news circulating online, that alleges that mail-in ballots for voters who opted for postal voting were printed without some electoral competitors.

CEC says that this information is ‘’completely false’’ and is an attempt to undermine citizens' trust in the electoral process.

According to the institution, the model and text of the mail-in ballot for the parliamentary elections on September 28, 2025, were approved under the CEC decision No. 3940 from September 7, this year, and include the names of all 23 officially registered electoral competitors.

A total of 2,472 mail-in ballots were printed ‘’under conditions of full transparency and with strict observance of the legal provisions,’’ the institution emphasized.

CEC urges voters to get information only from official sources and for the media to avoid disseminating false information that might affect the smooth conduct of the elections and the public's trust in the electoral process.
