More than half of Moldovans opt for Moldova's accession to EU - poll

Chisinau, 12 December /MOLDPRES/ - About 60 per cent of Moldovans would vote for Moldova’s accession to the European Union, if called to a referendum, while another 44 per cent would speak out for the country’s eastern development vector, according to data of an opinion poll conducted by the Institute of Marketing and Polls (IMAS), at an order by the Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM).

The spokesman for PDM, Vitalie Gamurari, unveiled the findings of the poll, conducted on 27 November – 7 December 2017, at the end of the Democrats’ weekly meeting today.

According to Gamurari, the opinion poll shows a significant increase in the number of optimists among Moldova’s residents, as well as a major growth in the number of citizen who appreciate the policies implemented by the authorities.  

The same survey shoes that, should elections be held on next Sunday, the Party of Socialists would rank first with 32 per cent of the votes, followed by the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) with 21.4 per cent and Democratic Party with 16.1 per cent.  

The opinion poll funds out an increase in the rating of PDM’s leadership, as well as of the party’s delegates to the government and parliament.  

The social and political barometer was conducted on a sample of 1,101 respondents from 74 settlements of Moldova, with an error margin of plus/minus three per cent.
