Ministry of Foreign Affairs has new State Secretary

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has a new Secretary of State. The position will be held by Corina Călugăru. The Cabinet approved the decision today.

Until now, Corina Călugăru has served as ambassador with special missions within the MFA. A career diplomat, Corina Călugăru has over 20 years of experience in the diplomatic service of the Republic of Moldova, having worked both within the central administration of the ministry and in bilateral and multilateral diplomatic missions.

She has held the positions of Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to the French Republic and the Principality of Monaco, Permanent Delegate to UNESCO, Personal Representative of the President of the Republic of Moldova to the International Organisation of La Francophonie, as well as Ambassador, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Moldova to the Council of Europe.

Also today, the Government decided to release Sergiu Mihov from the position of Secretary of State of the MFA, based on his resignation request, in the context of his nomination for the position of Ambassador.
