Romanian president says Moldova can always count on Romania’s support
Moldova will continue to benefit from Romania’s constant support in the process of European integration, strengthening energy security and enhancing resilience in the face of hybrid threats. President of Romania Nicusor Dan has made statements to this effect, after his meeting with Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu, held in Bucharest.
According to the Romanian head of state, the discussions focused on the common priorities of the two states, in the context of a regional environment marked by security challenges and instability.
“In the difficult regional and international period, we are going through, I wanted to assure Prime Minister Munteanu that Moldova can always count on Romania’s support, whether we are talking about accession to the European Union, ensuring energy security or increasing resilience in the face of hybrid threats,” said Nicusor Dan.
The Romanian official emphasized that the bilateral relationship is supported by major interconnection projects in such key areas as energy, infrastructure, transport and digital networks, meant to bring Moldova closer to the European Union through Romania. At the same time, the president of Romania encouraged the increase of Romanian investments in Moldova, highlighting their role in the creation of jobs and economic development.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu underlined that the dialogue had focused on deepening bilateral cooperation, as well as on the regional challenges triggered by the war in Ukraine, which continues to affect security and citizens’ everyday lives.According to the PM, the relationship between the two states is increasingly reflected in concrete projects for citizens, as well as in the constant support provided in difficult situations.
“We discussed the increasingly close relationship between our states, which is visible in joint projects for citizens, but especially in the mutual support we offer each other in times of severe trial,” said Alexandru Munteanu.
In the context, the official highlighted the support provided by Romania to Moldova, describing it as an example of genuine solidarity.
“Romania, through its unconditional assistance, shows us what true solidarity means,” the prime minister said.
At the same time, Alexandru Munteanu reiterated the strategic goal – the European integration of Moldova.“We are working side by side, united by the same aspiration: to see Moldova firmly anchored in the great European family. I am sure that, together with friends and trusted partners, such as Romania, Moldova is moving forward,” he concluded.
