PM meets Ambassador of Czech Republic to Moldova
Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu and Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Moldova Jaromir Plisek today discussed the bilateral cooperation, support for bringing the country closer to the European Union and opportunities to increase Czech investments in Moldova, including within the EU-supported Growth Plan.
The officials addressed the current regional situation and the government’s actions to stimulate economic growth, implement the reform agenda and advance on the European path. An important role in this regard is played by the Growth Plan for Moldova, which backs the modernization of infrastructure, economic development, structural reforms and integration into the EU Single Market.
Prime Minister Munteanu highlighted the investment opportunities offered by Moldova, including within Moldova IT Park. In the context, Ambassador Jaromir Plisek expressed the interest of Czech companies in participating in the implementation of major infrastructure projects, as well as in providing expertise in more fields. The sides also discussed organizing in Chisinau the next session of the Moldovan-Czech Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation.
Moldova is among the priority countries for Czech external assistance, benefiting from support in the social and energy sectors, as well as in the areas of security and defense. The Czech Republic has contributed to the Energy Vulnerability Reduction Fund, to the implementation of the RESTART reform to strengthen the social assistance system, to the management of the refugee crisis, and to the modernization of the National Army. In the period 2023–2025, the Czech Development Agency implemented projects worth approximately 10.5 million euros in Moldova.
