Another Shahed-type drone detected while unauthorizedly flying over national airspace in Transnistrian segment

Another unmanned aerial vehicle was detected while unauthorizedly flying over national airspace in the Transnistrian segment. A notification in this regard was received today at 09:05 from Ukraine’s air defense structures.

According to the Air Operations Service of the National Army, the Shahed-type drone crossed the state border from the direction of Podolsk, Odesa region (Ukraine), heading towards Cobasna, Rîbnița district (Republic of Moldova).

“At 09:13, the drone left the national territory, crossing the state border from the direction of Malîi Molochiș, Rîbnița district, towards Șerșenți, Odesa region, heading north. The aircraft operated at an altitude of up to 500 meters. The National Army’s surveillance systems continue to permanently monitor the airspace of the Republic of Moldova. At the same time, the institution cooperates with national authorities and specialists from neighboring countries to ensure the security of citizens,” the Ministry of Defense announced.

The authorities also urged citizens to remain calm and to seek information only from official sources.

“In case of observing suspicious aircraft, people are asked not to approach them, not to touch or move them, to note the location and to avoid using their phone nearby, as they may contain explosive elements sensitive to radio waves. Call the 112 Service immediately, only after you have moved at least 500 meters away,” the Ministry of Defense said.

Another Shahed-type drone was detected yesterday evening while unauthorizedly flying over the airspace of the Republic of Moldova. The drone crossed the state border from the direction of Comarivka, Odesa region (Ukraine), entering the territory of the Republic of Moldova near the locality of Șipca. The aircraft was monitored while flying over several localities, including Dubăsari and Orhei, moving northward at an altitude of approximately 1,700 meters and at an estimated speed of 180 km/h.

Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, the airspace of the Republic of Moldova has been unauthorizedly overflown more than 40 times. The authorities in Chișinău have submitted protest notes to the designated Ambassador of the Russian Federation, stressing that although the drones do not directly target the Republic of Moldova, their trajectories – associated with attacks on Ukraine – pose an increased risk to national security.
