Speaker: Mayors to play crucial role in leveraging EU funds for local projects
In the coming years, mayors will have an essential role in helping the Republic of Moldova make use of European Union funds for as many local projects as possible. Speaker Igor Grosu made the statements at a meeting with the local public administration in Anenii Noi.
“We have already invested about 1 billion lei in the development of Anenii Noi district, from roads, equipping medical institutions, and repairing schools and kindergartens, to major water, sewage, and street lighting projects. However, this is a small percentage compared to the possibilities offered by the accession process,” said Grosu.
According to the speaker, Moldova is developing now, and the accession to the European Union brings multiple opportunities for local communities.
“The important thing is to work quickly, with quality and thoughtfully,” Igor Grosu emphasized, insisting on the active involvement of local authorities in implementing projects financed from European funds.
