Alegeri parlamentare 2025

Three independent candidates start electoral campaign parliamentary elections due in Moldova

Three independent candidates - Olesea Stamate, Andrei Nastase, and Victoria Sanduta, on August 29 started their electoral campaign for the parliamentary elections due on September 28. Nastase served as interior minister in 2019, Olesea Stamate was the head parliamentary juridical commission for appointments and immunities and Victoria Sanduta was a judge until 2024.

Olesea Stamate, independent candidate: “I have chosen to fight for justice”

Olesea Stamate, an MP, excluded from the faction of the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) during the amnesty law scandal, is running for a new term. Stamate claims she has chosen to stand with the citizens and not with the parties:

“We need a justice system that defends people, not governments. I did not choose a comfortable path, but rather the fight for justice,” said Stamate outside the Supreme Court of Justice.

Andrei Nastase, independent candidate: “I run free, honest, determined”

A former interior minister and leader of the Dignity and Truth Platform has entered the electoral campaign. Andrei Nastase campaigns with the message “Faith! Courage! Competence!”.

“I run just as I am: free, honest, determined. It is the most proper way to do politics in a country where people no longer trust parties,” states Andrei Nastase.

His electoral project includes strict rules in administration and finance, with savings of 10 billion lei: reducing the number of deputies and ministries, eliminating exaggerated salaries and county councils.

Victoria Sanduta, independent candidate: “A brave vote - an independent voice”

Former judge Victoria Sanduta launched her electoral campaign through a poster: “No party. No interests. With principles. A brave vote = An independent voice.”

Victoria Sanduta gets involved in politics after being dismissed from the judicial system in 2024. Sanduta criticized the governance for the judicial reform and joined the Coalition for Unity and Welfare, which she soon leaved.

On August 29, the electoral campaign for the parliamentary elections started in Moldova. The Central Electoral Commission registered 21 electoral competitors, including four blocs, 13 parties and four independent candidates.
