Moldovan citizens have chosen Europe – we will continue this path with determination. Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi made the statement at a meeting of foreign ministers on interregional security and connectivity, organized in Luxembourg, within the EU Foreign Affairs Council.

Participation took place at the invitation of the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, the European Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, and the European Commissioner for International Partnerships, Jozef Šíkela.

Popșoi spoke at the two sessions: the one dedicated to security, which brought together the Black Sea region states and EU member states, and the one focused on connectivity, joined by Central Asian countries.

Foreign ministers congratulated the Republic of Moldova for maintaining its firm European path and reaffirmed the full support of EU member states for advancing on the integration.

“The citizens of the Republic of Moldova have clearly and loudly stated where they want to see their future and that of their children. No disinformation campaign or cyberattacks from Kremlin have managed to deter us from the legitimate desire to be part of the European Union. We are now counting on the support of member states to move to the next stage – opening the negotiation clusters,” declared Mihai Popșoi.

During the event, Popșoi held a series of meetings with his EU counterparts: Romanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Oana Țoiu, Latvian Minister of Foreign Affairs Baiba Braže, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Defense of Ireland Simon Harris, Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation José Manuel Albares Bueno, Greek Minister of Foreign Affairs George Gerapetritis, Armenian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ararat Mirzoyan and Minister of State for Europe at the Federal Foreign Office of Germany Gunther Krichbaum.

Current topics on Moldova's EU accession process, progress in implementing reforms, and the priorities of the next stages of accession negotiations were discussed at the event.
