Women honored in parliament
Deputy speaker Doina Gherman announced that alongside a group of female deputies, a draft law has been registered that will bring more protection and safety to women.
“We are proud of the women in our country, they show the whole world every day that they can, and through them, Moldova can too. We have women who excel in all fields,” Gherman said.
Following the implementation of this legislative package, violence against women through information technology or electronic communications will be penalized, and women subjected to digital violence will be able to obtain protection measures. Additionally, the duration of the protection order for victimized women will be extended and the emergency restraining order duration for aggressors will be increased. For the protection order, the term will be increased from three to six months. For the emergency restraining order, the time will be extended by 10 days.
Gherman thanked the athletes who have won medals, businesswomen, and performers who brought glory on international stages, as well as President Maia Sandu for the fight for democracy.
“Thank you for showing the whole world who we truly are - a people with a big heart, loving peace and liberty. We celebrate all the girls and women of the Republic of Moldova and thank them for courage, leadership and vision. It is our duty to build a European Moldova, where women and men will live in harmony, with rights, opportunities, and equal chances. A happy March 8th,” concluded Gherman.
