58 drivers caught drunk driving on weekend
Chisinau, 6 September /MOLDPRES/- A number of 58 drivers were found and removed from driving by patrol inspectors on weekend.
According to the data of the National Inspectorate of Public Security, 44 were in a state of advanced intoxication, 6 refused to pass the alcohol test, and 8 - contravention cases.
More than 1,200 drivers violated traffic rules, including: exceeding the speed limit - 800 drivers; non-compliance with road signs - over 20; violation of stopping rules and not giving priority to pedestrians - 70; non-coupling of the seat belt - 70 sanctioned drivers.
According to the legislation, the management of the intoxicated transport unit is punished with a fine of up to 25 thousand lei or with unpaid work for the benefit of the community with a duration of 40 to 60 hours. In addition, drivers are deprived of the right to drive for up to one year. If caught in a state of advanced alcohol intoxication while driving, drivers risk the revocation of the right to drive more transport units.
