Additional agreement to Twinning Protocol between Chisinau and Bucharest municipalities signed in Moldovan capital
Chisinau, 15 January /MOLDPRES/ - The members of the Chisinau municipal Council (CMC) and the General Council of the Bucharest municipality held a joint meeting in Chisinau today. At the event, the councilors approved a new additional cooperation agreement to the Twinning Protocol between the two capitals.
This document is necessary for a subsequent cooperation between the Bucharest and Chisinau administrations, which will allow financing more projects in Moldova’s capital. The agreement stipulates several collaboration sectors, especially for the economic development, culture, town planning, architecture, tourism, infrastructure, ecology, etc.
„We want this agreement to be a lucrative act, a programmatic document which is to be implemented both in Bucharest and in Chisinau. For us, this cooperation is fundamental; we are open for any kind of demand on behalf of Chisinau councilors and we are set to turn this collaboration permanent and not circumstantial, so that the citizens are contented with what we are doing,” the head of Romania’s delegation, deputy mayor of Bucharest Aurelian Badulescu said at the meeting.
For his part, the Chisinau general mayor, Ion Ceban, thanked for the projects carried out in the capital with the support of the partners both from Bucharest and other cities of Romania. “This meeting is the first event of this kind for us, an important event for both sides. We have an efficient cooperation, which we want to continue in diverse fields of work, including the implementation of more projects,” the Chisinau mayor noted.
The Twinning Protocol between the capitals of Moldova and Romania was signed in Bucharest on 4 November 1999 by the then mayor of Bucharest, Viorel Lis and the Chisinau general mayor, Serafim Urechean.
By the signing of this document, the sides confirmed the existence of the mutual relations and the idea of promoting the exchange of information, knowledge and experience in the local public administration field, education, culture, support and encouraging the relations between economic agents from Bucharest and Chisinau, etc.
The signing of the last programme on cooperation between the two municipalities in 2018 provided for the deepening of cooperation in the sectors of transport, education, culture and tourism.
