MIA system becomes available for transfers between companies
Starting today, 2 March 2026, the MIA Instant Payments system can be used by companies to make instant transfers between legal entities (Business to Business – B2B) via internet and mobile banking channels provided by payment service providers.
Thus, companies can initiate and receive transfers in Moldovan lei 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including outside the working hours of payment service providers, with real-time settlement in just a few seconds.
The new B2B functionality complements the services already available: instant transfers between individuals, business payments, and payments for public services, further consolidating MIA’s role as a modern national payment infrastructure.
Governor of the National Bank of Moldova (NBM) Anca Dragu said that extending instant payments to legal entities optimizes financial flows, streamlines commercial relations, and reduces dependence on the working hours of payment service providers, while also supporting the digitalization of economic processes.
“MIA is constantly evolving, adding functionalities that bring more flexibility and transform the way money circulates in the economy, and for the business environment this makes a real difference. Instant payments are redefining how companies manage financial flows, providing speed, efficiency, and a real competitive advantage. In a dynamic economic environment, MIA is a business accelerator and one of the most visible transformations of recent years, with a direct impact on how people manage their finances, on the operational efficiency of companies, and on the relationship between public institutions and citizens,” said Anca Dragu.
Instant B2B transfers allow real-time settlement of funds, facilitating liquidity management and the execution of commercial operations without delays. They can be used for paying invoices, advances, unlocking deliveries, or other payments related to commercial relationships. The commission is 0.7% of the transfer amount, not exceeding 40 lei per transaction, thus ensuring clear and predictable costs for companies.
The MIA Instant Payments system is a central element of the modern payment infrastructure in the Republic of Moldova, playing a major role in increasing the efficiency and transparency of financial transactions in Moldovan lei. It was developed by the NBM and launched on 12 March 2024. Statistical data show that the system is currently used by every second citizen who holds at least one bank account.
