Driving in winter conditions on national roads of Moldova; authorities urge caution
Road maintenance crews on the night of January 11 to 12 intervened on more national roads in the northern part of the country following snowfall and the formation of black ice. A total of 58 special vehicles and 37 road workers were deployed in the field, spreading 218 tons of technical salt and 86 tons of anti-skid material.
According to the National Road Administration, the works targeted both national and regional roads, in order to ensure traffic in winter conditions. Interventions took place on such routes as M1, M5, R7, R8, R11, R12, R13, R14, R15, R19, R9, as well as on roads in categories G5, G9, G10, G14, G20, G33, G37, G38, G39, G40, G41, G57, and G98.
Most actions were reported in the districts of Glodeni, Soroca, Ocnita, Briceni, Edinet, Drochia, Floresti, Soldanesti, Donduseni, Balti and Falesti, as well as in two areas in the central part of the country: Straseni and Ialoveni.
The National Road Administration reiterates that, at present, traffic is taking place in winter conditions, with the road surface being partially covered with snow in some areas. The authorities announce that the situation is being constantly monitored and urge drivers to exercise increased caution, especially in areas hit by snowfall.
