Higher pensions and social benefits: 6.84 percent indexation applied as of today
Starting today, pensions and social benefits are indexed by 6.84 percent, according to a decision previously approved by the Government.
Thus, as of April 1, the minimum old-age pension will amount to 3,264.66 lei, the minimum pension for persons with a contribution period of at least 40 years will reach 3,525.72 lei, and the minimum disability pension will range between 1,632.33 lei and 2,448.50 lei, depending on the degree of disability.
All pensions calculated in accordance with Law No. 156/1998 on the public pension system will be increased by a fixed amount of 51.33 lei. For persons whose pensions are below the established minimum level, the difference will be covered through a solidarity supplement financed from the state budget.
Additionally, state social allowances will also be recalculated, with their amounts ranging from 1,305.86 lei to 5,060.23 lei per month, depending on the beneficiary’s category.
The recalculation of pensions and social benefits will be carried out ex officio by the National Social Insurance House, without the need to submit any documents or applications.
The estimated cost of indexing social benefits is over 2 billion lei, and the cost of the fixed-amount increase is approximately 300 million lei.
Indexation is an annual and periodic measure applied to pensions established in accordance with the legislation on the public pension system, as well as to special pensions granted under other laws. Indexation also covers disability allowances, capitalized payments, monthly state allowances for veterans, and other social benefits provided for by law.
