
Chisinau, 24 October /MOLDPRES/- The Mission of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Moldova has a new head - Lars Johann Lonnback. The official had a meeting with Secretary General of Government Lilia Palli.
Lars Johann Lonnback pointed out the possibility of Moldova to apply for inclusion in the candidate list for hosting one of the world events dealing with migration issues in 2020 - Global Forum on Migration and Development. The event annually brings together 200 delegations from different countries to identify relevant policies and opportunities on migration and development in participating countries.
According to the government's communication and protocol department, the officials exchanged views on partnership and issues related to key areas of collaboration. At the same time, they approached elaboration and promotion of the draft National Development Strategy Moldova 2030.
The sides also addressed aspects of the implementation of the Diaspora Home Program DAR 1 + 3, which aims at encouraging partnership between the diaspora, central and local public authorities, development partners to carry out development projects of the localities of diaspora. In this context, Lars Johann Lonnback expressed the IOM’s willingness to participate in this project.
