Man sentenced to 20 years of imprisonment for murdering of his wife in Moldova
Chisinau, 19 July /MOLDPRES/ - A 63-year-old man has been sentenced to 20 years of imprisonment for the murdering of his wife. He is to serve his punishment in a closed prison.
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office (PG), in December 2023, the defendant, when being at home with his wife, stroke multiple blows at her, which led by the victim’s death.
„To hide the traces of the offence, the defendant put clean clothes on the dead body and placed the clothes dirty of blood into the washing machine. He covered the wounds on the woman’s face with make-up, called the emergency service 112, informing that he had found his wife dead,’’ PG said.
According to the forensic assessment report, the victim’s death occurred 3-4 days before the carrying out of the autopsy.
The measure of preventive arrest was maintained against the defendant, till the entrance into force of the sentence.
The sentence is not final and can be appealed at the Chisinau-based Court of Appeal in a 15-day period.
