Moldova discusses strengthening airspace protection capabilities with Romania and Ukraine, Speaker says
The Republic of Moldova is discussing solutions with Romania and Ukraine to strengthen its airspace protection capabilities, amid repeated incidents involving drones flying over the country's territory. Speaker Igor Grosu made the statement today.
The speaker said that the authorities are holding discussions with both neighbors, but that details cannot be made public until the negotiations are finalized.
“I know some details, but I cannot share them with you as long as the discussions have not been finalized. Obviously, we are talking to both sides, with both neighbors,” Igor Grosu said.
The Speaker highlighted Romania’s experience in cooperating with Western partners and stressed that Ukraine has considerable experience in airspace protection, gained in the context of the war.
“Ukraine has the best experience. We are in contact with them,” Igor Grosu said.
The discussions are taking place amid repeated incidents involving drones entering the airspace of the Republic of Moldova.
