Moldovan cabinet provides compensations for energy worth 3.4 billion lei in cold season
Chisinau, 15 May /MOLDPRES/ - The government provided compensations for energy worth 3.4 billion lei (about 170 million euros) in the cold season. Labour and Social Protection Minister Alexei Buzu made statements to this effect today.
According to the official, 763,000 out of the households registered in the information system received a high degree of vulnerability (about 80 per cent). ‘’The sum of the compensations provided varied depending on more factors. The overall budget planned for November 2022 – November 2023 is of 5.8 billion lei. In the next cold season, we will approve amendments, in order to better target the low-income households. At the same time, adjustings will be made to the information system, in order to learn more data on the incomes of the households,’’ Alexei Buzu said.
For his part, the head of the parliamentary commission for social protection, health and family, Dan Perciun, said that, in the next cold season, another two vulnerability categories would be created. ‘’We want to enhance the equity, so that the most vulnerable ones benefit from higher compensations. At the same time, amendments are to be approved, which regard the status of the members of the families (the families which have children or people with disabilities). Also, the regional differences of cost will be taken into account and the confirmation of the status of lodger will be necessary. Another goal is the verification of the crediting data. The measures have the goal to reduce the fraud and improve the quality of the information introduced in the system. We are also set to automate the processes and shorten the waiting time for requests,’’ Dan Perciun said.
The compensations for energy are provided from the energy vulnerability reduction fund, which is supplied from the state budget and from donations of international partners and of other states’ governments.
