
Over 90 policemen from Moldova, Romania trained within project finance by EU
Chisinau, 11 December /MOLDPRES/ - Over 90 policemen from both banks of the Prut river have been trained within the project, Consolidation of the capacities of the Moldovan and Romanian police in the field of preventing criminality, including the cross-border offences.
The actions were carried out by the General Police Inspectorate (IGP), jointly with the Iasi County Police Inspectorate. The goal of the course was to establish the mechanisms of efficient communication between policemen and citizens within public events, communication in crisis situations, correct enforcement of techniques of preventing criminality, the importance of mobile centres as contact instruments with various target groups.
At the same time, working meetings of the Guiding Committee, study visits, workshops, joint informing and prevention activities were organized within the project. Thus, citizens were encouraged to interact with policemen, in order to contribute to the prevention of criminality, creating an environment of safety and enhancing the degree of trust in the community where they live.
In Moldova, the actions were held in the municipalities of Balti, Cahul and Orhei and in Romania – in the cities of Iasi and Pascani and the towns Targu Frumos, Harlau and Podu Iloaiei.
The project was implemented on the period June – December 2022. Its overall value was 330,000 euros. The project partners benefited from a non-refundable support of 90 per cent on behalf of the European Union and contributed 10 per cent to its implementation. The project was financed within the Romania-Moldova Joint Operational Programme 2014-2020.
