VIDEO // Interactive teaching and learning methods at gymnasium in Micleușeni, Strășeni

Students and teachers at Ion Creangă Gymnasium in the village of Micleușeni, Strășeni district will benefit from modern technologies and educational tools for teaching and learning. The institution has been equipped with digital devices under the “Improving the Quality of Education” Project, implemented by the Ministry of Education and Research and financed by the World Bank.

Returning from the summer vacation, the more than 180 students will continue to enjoy the new IT equipment and interactive devices, making lessons and school activities more interesting and engaging. The school principal, Silvia Lozovanu, stated that the gymnasium has been equipped with eight computers, three interactive whiteboards, a printer, and educational games for developing speech and attention in children with disabilities.

“These investments have a long-term impact. As society modernizes, we must get involved and meet current requirements in order to offer students the best possible conditions,” the principal mentioned.

Lilia Jardan is a biology and geography teacher at the gymnasium. She notes that, since the classrooms were equipped, students have shown increased interest during lessons.

“The interactive whiteboard radically changes how content is presented. In geography classes we use interactive maps, maps of climate zones and natural regions, while in biology lessons we present diagrams of organ systems, biological cycles, and images of ecosystems. Students want to come to the board, touch the screen, label the organs in the systems, and trace routes on the maps,” the teacher says.

In total, 290 educational institutions – schools and kindergartens – have been equipped with digital devices under a competition previously announced by the Ministry of Education and Research within the project. More than 100,000 children and about 15,000 teachers will benefit from this support. The investment amounts to over 15.5 million lei.
