Two former anticorruption prosecutors of Moldova prosecuted within criminal case
Chisinau, 13 October /MOLDPRES/ - The alleged involvement of the former prosecutors from the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office, Roman Statnii and Viorel Morari, in dispossessing of two business people of wealth is investigated by the Prosecutor General’s Office (PG) within a criminal file.
Today, PG came up with a reaction to statements by a lawmaker of the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS), Lilian Carp, from 12 October 2021, in which the MP asked the Prosecutor General’s Office to take note and investigate the information on the alleged involvement of two former prosecutors in dispossessing of two business people of wealth.
PG informed that the actions of the two prosecutors were already investigated within a criminal file opened back in February 2020. They are investigated through the offences provided for in the Article 190, paragraph 5 (swindle), Article 324, paragraph (3) (passive corruption), Article 226, paragraph (3) (influence peddling), Article 328, paragraph (3), (abuse of power) from the Criminal Code.
“So far, the case prosecutor has assigned the status of accused person to two persons. It is about a citizen of Russia and a former prosecutor, whose names cannot be divulged for the time being, to observe the principles of confidentiality of the criminal prosecution and the assumption of innocence, ‘’ reads a press release by the institution.
