
Two citizens of Moldova, one of Ukraine die in traffic accident in Romania
Two Moldovan citizens and one Ukrainian citizen have died, while five other people, including a three-month-old infant, sustained injuries in the wake of a traffic accident which occurred in the in Cluj County, Romania, involving a minibus registered in Moldova.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE), the minibus, which was traveling from Poland, allegedly crossed into the opposite lane and collided with a truck. Two Moldovan citizens out of the five injured people were transported to the Municipal Hospital in Dej, where they underwent medical examination and were subsequently discharged. The family with the three-month-old child was transferred for further investigations to the Pediatric Hospital in Cluj-Napoca.
"The Embassy of Moldova in Bucharest is in direct contact with the victims of the tragic accident, as well as with the competent authorities of Romania. At the same time, the diplomatic mission is prepared to provide, upon request, the necessary consular assistance and will intervene, if needed, to provide available support," the MAE informed.
According to the Dej Police Inspectorate, four out of all eight people involved in the accident are citizens of Moldova, while the others are citizens of Ukraine and Russia, who reside in Estonia.
