Unjustified assets of over 479,000 lei detected at Customs Service official in Moldova

The National Integrity Authority (ANI) has identified unjustified assets amounting to over 479,000 lei, belonging to a public official with special status of the Customs Service.

The integrity inspector found a substantial discrepancy and the holding of unjustified assets by the official and his family members, totaling 479,715 lei. This amount consists of a difference of 406,565 lei for the year 2022 and a difference of 72,574 lei for the year 2023.

Once the finding act becomes final, the official’s employment relationship will be terminated, and he will be barred from holding certain positions for a period of three years, with an entry made in the Register of Prohibitions. For the purpose of confiscating the unjustified assets, the case will be submitted to court.

The person subject to the control has the right to challenge the finding act, which is currently not final.
