
Vasile Coroi - new President of European Network of Ombudspersons for Children
Chisinau, Sep 24 /MOLDPRES/- Ombudsman for Children's Rights Vasile Coroi has been elected president of the European Network of Ombudspersons for Children (ENOC), a decision taken by the members of the General Assembly meeting in Helsinki, Finland.
The tasks of the president-elect, in addition to representing ENOC in external events and strategic meetings, include coordinating the work on the preparation of the annual study on the priority theme on children's rights selected by the General Assembly, coordinating the preparation of the annual position statement, hosting the annual conference and the General Assembly.
ENOC is composed of 43 national child rights institutions from 33 member states of the Council of Europe. The network facilitates the promotion and protection of children's rights, as set out in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, serves as a peer forum for the exchange of information and good practice, and ensures, through advocacy, that relevant institutions at European level place children's rights at the heart of their activities, legislation and policies.
